The Original XT808 Flashlight, Now Free!
4601 Hyland Ave. San Jose, CA 95127 408-258-7677 Dear Parents: Enclosed is the tuition payment information for the next school year. Since the stability of our school and the quality of its programs are of the utmost importance, we are always seeking ways to make improvements to benefit everyone. After much research and investigation, we have contracted with FACTS Management Company to help us manage our tuition payment program. We are excited to be working with them and are confident this program will lead to greater financial stability for the school and more flexibility for our families. Please note the following features in using the FACTS system: ❖ Convenient and secure customized online payment plan sign-up ❖ Payment reminders 5 days prior to scheduled payment date via email or text ❖ Multiple payment plan options, including automatic bank payment and online payment ❖ Ability to switch payment methods (e.g. from checking to savings or different checking account) ❖ Payments can be made from your mobile device ❖ Applying for Grant & Aid online takes minutes All families will be required to enroll using one of the following FACTS tuition payment plan options by May 19th. Go to the FACTS website https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/4B3QP to create a username and password. 1. Monthly Payment Plan Example: Plan will run July-May and may be processed on the 5th or the 20th of each month for 11 total payments. 2. Bi-Monthly Plan (twice a month) Example: Plan will run July-May and will be processed on the 5th and the 20th of each month for a total of 22 payments. 3. Payment in Full Example: Payment in Full on/by July 5th with a 2% discount. By making your tuition payments through FACTS, you will pre-authorize a transfer of funds from your bank account, debit, or credit card for your tuition payments. Please be assured that neither FACTS nor the school will have direct access to your financial account. The FACTS program will enable us to project costs and income figures on a more solid basis. Additionally, school administrative staff can spend more time on education, development, and related issues. Thank you for your loyalty to St. John Vianney School, and for your support in our efforts to provide an exemplary education in the Catholic tradition. We appreciate the opportunity to serve your family in the 4601 Hyland Ave. San Jose, CA 95127 408-258-7677 academic and social development of your children. Together we are dedicated to your children and working with FACTS is one more step in ensuring we can continue our mission. With Respect, Anthony Barajas Principal St. John Vianney Frequently Asked Questions 1. When will the funds be withdrawn from my bank account? While FACTS transacts each payment on the date you have specified, it is your financial institution that determines the time of day the payment is debited. FACTS recommends checking with your financial institution to determine how far in advance funds should be deposited into your account to ensure the automatic payment clears. If a payment date falls on a weekend or bank holiday, the payment will be transacted the following business day. 2. How will I be notified of my payment information? Once your agreement is posted to the FACTS system and the school enters the net tuition amount, you will receive a confirmation notification of your payment amount by e-mail or letter in approximately 10 days. Payments will be processed until the total balance is paid in full. The notification has important information you must have to log on to Consumer Portal Account. You will receive a reminder email 5 days prior to the upcoming payment and have the option to change payment method or pay ahead online at any time. 3. How do I use my user ID and Password? To help protect your privacy, FACTS asks the person responsible for the payments to create an access code. If you inquire about your account online or by phone, you will be required to verify your FACTS Access Code. 4. What happens if FACTS attempts to process my payment and there are not enough funds in my account? Should an automatic bank payment be returned, a $30.00 FACTS Returned Payment Fee will be automatically assessed to your account. This is separate from any fee the school may assess. You will be notified by FACTS of the returned payment via e-mail or postal mail. The payment will be reattempted approximately 15 days later. If unexpected circumstances arise, please contact the school office 2 business days prior to payment to discuss a change to your upcoming payment. 5. What about enrollment in the FACTS payment plan in future years? The FACTS payment plan enables the school to automatically re-enroll families in payment plans over successive years, saving time for both the school office and your family. Should your tuition payments be made through FACTS the following year, you would be notified in advance by the school. 6. How will I pay other expenses at the school? You will receive an email notice from FACTS that incidental fees are due (Registration is the first incidental billing that you will receive), directing you to your secure parent portal for a listing of the fees due. Just "click and pay". You may sign in to your secure parent portal at any time to view your FACTS account, and you can also sign in to FACTS from RenWeb with just a single click. As always, we take what our pupils say very seriously and are keen to take actions to address their suggestions and concerns. Indeed, we embarked on our use of pupil surveys following previous feedback from pupils that indicated they would like more opportunities for their opinions to be heard. The Survey We asked all pupils in Years 7-13 to complete the anonymous survey on-line. The survey consisted of a list of 20 statements to which pupils were invited to agree or disagree. These are the same statements used by our Inspectorate, ISI, when they carry out whole school inspections. Our Analysis • The survey results show a very high level of pupil satisfaction in almost every area. We are delighted that the vast majority of BGS pupils have indicated that they feel they are achieving significant success in the provision we offer. Of the 20 questions we asked our pupils, 11 questions achieved more than 90% agreement. Of the remaining 9 questions, 7 indicated pupil satisfaction was upwards of 70% and on average, we achieved upwards of 80% agreement in these areas. • Two questions revealed that, whilst we are on the whole highly successful in our provision, we could take further steps to improve pupil perception in the following areas: - Advice about choice of subject or career (It is important to note that this survey was carried out before the various options evenings) - Fair application of sanctions While it is common for younger pupils in particular to be unsure about a school's careers provision, and it is also not out of the ordinary for young people to feel rules are unfair, we have taken steps to address the above issues. Registered office: Farraday House, Bridge Road, Bury, Lancashire, BL9 0HG. Registered in England and Wales Moving forward As outlined, we have already taken action in order to address those areas for attention mentioned above. For the future, we will continue to seek feedback from pupils and parents in order to improve our provision and have plans to reenergize our School Councils so that there is ample opportunity to discuss School matters openly with pupils. We relish these opportunities and will continue to actively seek areas in which we can improve as a School. Thank you once again for your interest and support. I am delighted that Professor Richard Hills will be our guest of honour and will present our prizes. Professor Richard is an Old Boy of Bedford School who is Emeritus Professor of Radio Astronomy at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge. He has spent his life studying the formation of stars and planets. He is the recipient of the Jackson-Gwilt Medal for the Royal Astronomical Society for his outstanding contributions, and was elected to the Royal Society in 2014. This is our most prestigious event in the year. We would like to reward the prize-winners, of course, but we also wish to celebrate the efforts of the whole school and the events of the year. We will also take the opportunity of formally congratulating the Year 8 boys for their years in the Prep School and wishing them the best of luck as they move on and there will be a moment to do this during the course of the morning. The event will be held in the Great Hall and we expect all boys in Years 5-8 to attend. Year 3 and Year 4 boys and parents are, of course, more than welcome and prize-winners in those year groups are expected to attend. On that morning there will be no lessons and boys' registration will be as follows: 10.15am - all prize winners from Y3-8 to go directly to the Great Hall in uniform for registration All other boys from Y5-7 to go to their tutor room at 10.15am for registration Any Y3-4 boys who would like to attend (but who are not prize winners) do not need to register and will sit with their parents and they do not need to be in uniform. Boys must wear long sleeve white shirts and ties (no blazers or jumpers), and will sit in year groups with tutors. Beforehand, coffee will be served in the dining hall from 10.00am and all parents are warmly invited. Parents can take their seats in the Great Hall from 10.30am and are asked to be seated by 10.50am. Prize winners sit separately, and the names of this year's prize winners will be announced shortly. After the speeches have concluded, there will be a Reception for Year 8 boys and their parents in the Erskine May Hall with drinks and canapés. We would be delighted if you are able to join us on this very special occasion in our school calendar. Very best wishes Ian Silk Headmaster Dear Parent/Guardian: Pearson, the nation's largest publishing company of assessment materials, is developing the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children–Fifth Edition (WISC–V). We are looking for children aged 6–16 to participate in the project's development. Before your child can participate in this effort, we need your permission. You will find a list of the most frequently asked questions below. Frequently Asked Questions Why do you want my child to participate? The purpose of this study is to "test the test." The results of this study will be used to create the final version of the test. Therefore, we need children from all over the United States and of various ages, races/ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds to participate. What will you ask my child to do? Each child will be asked to perform different activities such as answering questions, viewing pictures, repeating numbers, and matching symbols. All questions and tasks are age appropriate for your child. Some of the material will be easy for him or her, and some will be more difficult. Will I get the test results? No. We are not able to give you a score for your child because the test is still being developed. The results from your child's participation will only be used to make decisions about the final version of the test. Are you going to pay my child? Yes. In exchange for your child's time, he or she will receive a payment in the form of a check. The payment will be mailed to the address provided on the consent form approximately 4–6 weeks after Pearson has received your testing materials. Will my information and my child's information be kept confidential? All information you provide to Pearson will be kept confidential and is only used for research purposes. We do not sell or give any of your or your child's information to any outside group. If you will allow your child to take part in this study, please complete, sign, and return the attached consent form to the examiner as soon as possible. As we begin to plan for the yearbook and 5th grade farewell we are asking for your help. We are requesting that each student bring in a baby/toddler picture that will be used in the farewell ceremony as well as in the yearbook. We are trying to streamline this process. Some parents have already emailed a photo to the PTA and I have those photos. If you have not submitted a photo you can either email me the photo at acrabb@bcps.org or send the photo in a sealed envelope with your child's name on the envelope. The picture will not be damaged in any way and the photo will be returned. Please make sure all photos are school appropriate. The deadline for submitting photos is March 23, 2016 because we have to have them turned into the yearbook company.
