Sign-ups will take place starting on Monday morning, Feb. 25th, when we return from Winter break. Auditions will be held the following week, Mon. â€" Thurs. (March 4 -7), with results posted on Friday March 8th . Performers are reminded that their performance pieces should be NO longer than 2 minutes in length, and must be PERFORMANCE READY at the time of the auditions. Students may only be in one act, with the exception that they may be involved in second act that involves their entire classroom. Further, performance pieces must be APPROPRIATE for a Kindergarten-age audience. Please give careful consideration when considering song lyrics or dance moves. (If you have to ask, it’s probably out.) Specifically, to avoid disappointment, please avoid any lyric with ANY reference to an “adult” theme; this is, after all, a children’s show! Some parents have already inquired about specific songs, and both of them have already been advised to select different songs. The songs already turned down are the Gangnam-style dance (reference to “sexy lady” doesn’t apply to grade school children) and “Call Me Maybe” (considered to be inappropriate for elementary school-aged students and a family audience, given its relational and suggestive references). If movie ratings are a helpful guideline, the aim is more towards a G â€" PG rated show, while avoiding “themes” or vocabulary geared toward PG-13.
