Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1) How do I apply to Montgomery College?
To apply online, complete and submit an online admissions application. Click on the following link for Quick Steps to Simple Admission. For non-credit course information contact Workforce Development and Continuing Education at 240-567-5188 or WDCE.
What if I am applying as an international student?
Follow this link to the Resources for International Students webpage. Please note that all International Student Applications must be in printed form. Do not complete the online general student application.
2) I have forgotten my M# can you send it to me?
In order to provide you with your M# we will need to verify your identity. Please call the Response Center at 240-567-5000.
3) I am trying to register but I cannot. Why am I getting Hold or Error messages?

4) What is my application status? I applied to Montgomery College but I have not heard anything.
Once your online application is processed, an email will be generated and sent to you at the email address you put on your application. The email will include your Montgomery College student ID number and your Montgomery College student e-mail address. This email will be followed by a Welcome Letter/acceptance letter, which you should receive in approximately two weeks via first class mail. The letter will include instructions on how to set up your account and next steps in the enrollment process. Your account will be active for email and registration after you go through the set-up process in our College portal, MyMC. In the meantime, if you are coming to the College for assessment testing or other services, you may use your College ID number. If you have questions or need assistance, please visit a campus Welcome Center or call 240-567-5000.
5) I sent a Transcript in to be evaluated. When will I receive the results?
Your transcript evaluation will be completed in approximately 4 to 6 weeks. When your evaluation is complete, an email notification will be sent to your MyMC account. You can learn more about transcript evaluation and credit for prior learning at this link. If you are following up on a transcript request you may email TranscriptEvaluation@montgomerycollege.edu.
6) When can I take an Accuplacer Test? How long does it take?
Here is the page, which contains links to each campus' Assessment and Testing schedules: schedules. Most students complete the test within 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
7) What SAT and ACT scores do I need to be exempt from taking the Accuplacer test? How should I submit my scores if I am exempt?
To be exempt you must have a minimum SAT score of 500 in Critical Reading and/or Mathematics or a minimum ACT score of 21 in English and/or Mathematics. To submit your scores have them sent to Montgomery College. Our school codes are: Rockville: 5440, Germantown:5393, Takoma Park: 5414
8) I would like to take classes at Montgomery College to transfer back to my home college/university. What do I need to do?
To take courses to transfer back to your school follow the steps at Resources for Visiting Students.
9) I already have an undergraduate degree and would like to take classes at Montgomery College what do I need to do?
You will need to apply to Montgomery College if you have not applied previously: application. You will need to take an unofficial transcript to the Admissions Office (any of the three Campuses) and they can create an assessment level override for College-level English, reading and basic math. This will allow you to register for any class with those assessment levels. Approval for any further prerequisites are the responsibility of the department that offers the course. You can also contact the professor teaching the course and speak to them about an override.
