Remote Side Gigs
Wednesday, March 22, 2023
Hey Isaac,
There are some remote jobs that will more or less allow people to make a little bit of extra money, but they cannot really give people second careers. However, some people might be fine with that. For instance, it is possible to make money by taking surveys online. There are enough surveys online that some people will be able to find surveys that are genuinely somewhat lucrative to complete, at least relatively speaking.
However, people have to really like taking surveys in order to really motivate themselves to do something like this. After all, it's still difficult to make a lot of money on something like this. Online businesses will often pay people for feedback on their products. It's lucrative for them to do so, but it is not logical economically for them to pay people a lot of money for something that they could easily get for free elsewhere.
This is similar with a lot of other online moneymaking opportunities. People can make money writing reviews, for instance. However, it might only be a dollar per review. Earning a dollar for writing a review might be exciting for some people who are working from home anyway. They might do something like this in between working at the remote jobs that will pay them more money.
However, few people are going to write reviews for a dollar each unless they just really like writing these reviews. This is still going to be a hobby rather than a moneymaker for them, and this is something that people should acknowledge. It's important to separate the lucrative online jobs from the ones that are just going to give people a little extra money. Writing reviews, taking surveys, offering consumer feedback, and otherwise making a few extra dollars here and there is fine. However, it's not a career.
