Happy summer! We hope this letter finds you well. It is our summer tradition to ask you to check and
update your contact information in the Online Parent Directory and update your Business Card Profile
and Volunteer Interests. Also, below are some important dates for you to pencil in on your calendar.
Orientation - Grades 8â€"12
Students only in grades 8-12 return to Hunter to receive schedules, Metrocards, have their student
ID photos taken, and attend an information assembly.
• Grade 8 â€" Wednesday, September 7, 10:45am
• Grades 9-10 â€" Wednesday, September 7, 1:00pm
• Grades 11-12 â€" Tuesday, September 6, 1:00pm
School Photos
Individual photos are taken for Hunter student ID cards at no charge. In our August mailing, you will
receive a Lifetouch Photo order form. Optional school photo packages are available, but students
must bring a completed order form and check on Orientation Day to buy these optional packages.
The school will receive 20% of photo sales. Please note: a class photo will not be taken and a picture
retake day will be scheduled in the future.
First Day of School
The first full day of school is Thursday, September 8. Start time is 8:08am.
Parent Grade Nights/Potluck Dinners
Grade Night/Potluck Dinners will be held from 6:00-7:30pm in the cafeteria. Parents will hear from
members of the school administration, counselors and term council advisors with a focus on issues
of specific concern to them. Parents are encouraged to submit questions in advance. Grade Reps will
coordinate a potluck dinner and time for socializing will follow.

PTA Meeting
The first PTA meeting of the year will take place on Wednesday, September 21 from 7-8:45pm
in the school auditorium. You’ll hear from school administrators and PTA representatives who will
provide HCHS updates. Prior to that meeting at 6pm there will be a presentation about Hunter Hawks
middle school and varsity sports programs.
Open School Day for Parents
This all-grades event on Thursday, October 6 is a great opportunity for parents to see what happens
in the classroom. Held only once each year, this day is your sole opportunity to sit in on your child’s
classes. Classroom teachers will teach as if parents are not there. Come to as much of the day as you
can. In addition, the student-run General Organization (G.O.) will host an Open House during lunch
in the auditorium. Club representatives will be available at their booths to answer questions and
